♦️The origins of the #BetaIsrael (House of Israel) is found in the#KebraNegast which asserts that the Beta Israel are descended from a battalion of men of Judah who fled southwards down the Arabian coastal lands from Judea after the breakup of the united Kingdom of Israel into two kingdoms in the 10th century BCE (while King Rehoboam reigned over Judah). ♦️Most scholars agree that a Jewish community has existed in#Kaifeng since the Northern Song Dynasty (960–1127), though some date their arrival to the Tang Dynasty (618-907) or earlier. Kaifeng, then the capital of the Northern Song Dynasty, was a cosmopolitan city on a branch of the Silk Road. It is believed that a small community of Jews, most likely from Persia or India, arrived either overland or by a sea route, and settled in the city, building a synagogue in 1163. ♦️The #MountainJews community originated from Ancient Persia, from the 5th century AD onwards, and their language,#Juhuri is an ancient Southwest Iranian language and a Persian dialect which integrates many elements of Ancient Hebrew. It is believed that they had arrived in Persia from Ancient Israel as early as the 8th century BC. ♦️The origins of the #YemeniJews is attested to in a book by the Arab historian Abu-Alfada, which stated that the Jews of Yemen settled in the area in 1451 BC. The Sanaite Jews have a legend that their ancestors settled in Yemen forty-two years before the destruction of the First Temple. It is said that under the prophet Jeremiah some 75,000 Jews, including priests and Levites, traveled to Yemen. ♦️#CochinJews, also called Malabar Jews, are of Mizrahi heritage. They are the oldest group of Jews in India, with possible roots claimed to date to the time of King Solomon. The Cochin Jews settled in the Kingdom of Cochin in South India, now part of the state of Kerala. ♦️The #SephardiJews are the remnant of Jews that settled in and around Spain. When they settled in Spain is not clear, as there are references to two Jewish influxes into Spain, one following the destruction of Israel’s First Temple and the other after the destruction of the Second. The earliest mention of Spain is found in Obadiah 1:20
